Spring Class to Feature Baseball & Freemasonry⁰
Mark your calendars for Saturday March 30, 2019 for our Spring Double Header!
You have all heard that Washington DC was designed around Masonic Symbols, many trains of thought also feel that the Baseball Diamond was laid out like an upside down Square and compass.
Abner Doubleday is often said to be one of the 2 Fathers of American Baseball, the other being Bro. Alexander Joy Cartwright , who is thought to have drawn the diagram of a diamond shaped diamond field. So does baseball have many marks of Freemasonry? The field, from home plate to the left and right field wall, forms a compass; the entire outfield wall is the semicircle which this compass draws. Upside-down, overlapping this compass, the base lines form the square. Three strikes and three outs were assigned because three is a principle sacred number throughout history as well as in Freemasonry. Four recalls the four directions common to so many sacred traditions and the square formed by the four bases of baseball as well as four balls. Nine is sacred not only because it is three squared but because of the wonderful things it does. There are nine fielding positions and nine innings. It does not take much to look around our world or stretch our imagination and see our Masonic heritage in many things. Masonry is a secular fraternity and does not require belief in any particular revelation, but is only open to those who believe in a power greater than themselves, like baseball perhaps?

On March 30, 2019 the Valley of Cincinnati will be hosting a double header with only 2 degrees being portrayed: 14⁰, Grand Elect Mason and the 32⁰, Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret. For those that have traveled to Portsmouth last November or are joining us in Hillsboro in January, you can become a 32⁰ as well as receive the 14⁰ and your ring. If you couldn’t join us on the road for the County Degree Days, you can still participate by attending one of the two remote Video degree days on Saturday March 23, 2019. On will be held in Portsmouth at the Portsmouth Masonic temple and the other simultaneously at Amelia Lodge. It takes a total of 4 degrees witnessed before you can become a 32⁰ Scottish Rite freemason, with the first being the 4⁰. Petitions are available on the website, www.32masons.com .
After the degrees conclude we will be walking down to Great American Ballpark to watch the Cincinnati reds take on the Pittsburgh Pirates for a fun day at the park which includes lunch, seats and beverages for all in attendance with our group. Candidates are free and me4mbers may purchase the package for only $10.00 per person. Thus the double header, Scottish Rite freemasonry and the Cincinnati Reds.
